Rituales Tecnológicos II: immersive art in institutional spaces
Behind the scenes of Sensus at Palacio Libertad — navigating the intersection of institutional culture and experimental digital art.
The institutional context
Palacio Libertad is one of Buenos Aires most visible cultural institutions — a former post office building repurposed as a space for technology and digital culture. Showing there carries a kind of legitimacy that alternative spaces do not, but it also means working within structures that were not designed for experimental art.
The setup
The installation required two weeks of technical setup, three iterations of the EEG calibration protocol, and a collaboration with the NotSociety team that pushed the system significantly beyond what had been originally designed. The immersive room on the second floor gave us a projection surface roughly eight meters wide — far larger than anything worked with before.
